About Nikki
To Nikki, all writing is meaning-making. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Rhetoric at Baylor University in 2019, where she also earned a minor in Religion and studied under the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core. In 2021, she received her M.S.Ed from Johns Hopkins University, with which she taught high school English. She now works as a grant management specialist in Dallas.
She has been a writer her whole life, but as an adult, she fell in love with collaborative storytelling— coming alongside others and helping share their stories.
“It is not your duty to complete the act of perfecting the world, but neither are you free to desist.”
— Rabbi Tafron, Ethics of the Fathers
Nikki is a lifelong fan of Vonnegut, Diet Coke, and making a Spotify playlist for every occasion.
“The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
— Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country
